Test Results and Assessment:

The results of the tests conducted on this sample DO NOT meet the SAE J300 specifications for the SAE Viscosity Grade listed on the product label, and ARE NOT consistent with API SC/CC Service Category claimed on the label. The Kinematic Viscosity @ 100°C is 63% lower than the minimum viscosity specification for this SAE grade. In addition, the organometallic additive levels in this sample are not typical of an SC/CC motor oil and if they were, it's important to note that the SC/CC service category is obsolete and is not suitable for use in automobile engines built after 1967. Use of such products can cause equipment harm to virtually all automobile engines currently on the road. The label on this product fails to give adequate warnings about its limited use. Further, the very high level of silicon in this sample indicates the product may be contaminated with abrasive material.

Note1: Although laboratory tests alone cannot be used to establish if engine oil meets an API Service Category, they can be used to determine if it doesn't. Note2: The specification for cold cranking viscosity includes only a maximum value; the minimum value shown in the “standard” area of the chart is truncated for illustrative purposes.
