The Petroleum Quality Institute of America (PQIA) is an independent resource for information and insights on the quality of lubricants in the marketplace. Our mission is to serve the consumer of lubricants by randomly sampling and independently testing lubricants taken from the field. Test results are posted along with the brand names on the PQIA website. This webpage provides an analysis on the brand detailed below.

Test Results and Assessment:

Advisory: The front label states "Universal TYPE A Automatic Transmission Fluid", and the back label states "Universal Automatic Transmission Fluid", and "This fluid may be used in automatic transmissions and power steering units of automobiles and light trucks manufactured by: General Motors, Ford and Chrysler, including European, and Japanese manufacturers."  In fact, TYPE A automatic transmission fluids are OBSOLETE and not recommended for use in any automatic transmissions built after 1957, and therefore clearly not a "Universal Automatic Transmission Fluid."  In addition, the fluid does NOT meet the specification for TYPE A ATFs.  Also of concern, the front label states "Better Protection for your Engine" when this is not an engine oil and should not be used in automobile engines.
