Whereas the phosphorus results for this sample do not meet the specification for API 1509, they are within the API Expanded Range of 540 to 880 parts per million. The "expanded range" applies standard industry practice to recognize ASTM test method reproducibility. The balance of the test results conducted on this sample meet the SAE J300 specifications for the SAE Viscosity Grade listed on the product label, and are consistent with the listed API Service Category.
