Test Results and Assessment:

The results of the tests conducted on this sample meet the SAE J300 specifications for the SAE Viscosity Grade listed on the product label, and are consistent with the listed API Service Categories.

Note: dexos® is a General Motors registered trademark. The labels on the product do not display the dexos® icon on the front label and the 11-digit alphanumeric dexos® license number on the back label. According to GM, unless these are displayed, the engine oil is not an authentic, licensed dexos® product and is not recommended for use in GM vehicles. More.

In addition, although the results of the tests conducted on this sample meet the SAE J300 specifications for an SAE 5W-30, the viscosity declaration on the front and back labels of this product do not conform to the SAE J300 labeling requirements and those set forth in NIST Handbook 130 which state that the viscosity grade is preceded by “SAE”.

Note1: Although laboratory tests alone cannot be used to establish if engine oil meets an API Service Category, they can be used to determine if it doesn't. Note2: The specification for cold cranking viscosity includes only a maximum value; the minimum value shown in the “standard” area of the chart is truncated for illustrative purposes.
